Terms of Use
Last updated: October 2026
The short version
Orange Baton is job management for small teams: an iPhone app and the service behind it. By creating an account or using the app you agree to these terms. The app itself is also licensed under Apple’s standard End User License Agreement, which these terms sit beside, not replace.
The service
A job always has one baton: the next stage and the person holding it. The app shows you the batons you hold, lets you pass them, and notifies the next person. Organizations group the people who pass batons to each other; the person who created an organization is its owner.
We may change the service, add or remove features, and update the app. You agree to install updates when offered; old versions may stop working.
Your account and your data
You need an account with a working email address. Keep your password to yourself; what is done with your account is your responsibility until you tell us otherwise.
What your organization enters — jobs, stages, batons, notes, members — is yours. We take no licence to it beyond what is needed to run the service and keep backups. You are responsible for having the right to enter it, including other people’s names.
The owner controls an organization: its members, its templates and its subscription. If the owner deletes their account, the organization and all its jobs are deleted with it. Members can leave or be removed; the batons they held go to the owner.
The Orange Baton name, the app, the artwork and this site’s content are ours.
The Team plan
Using an organization as a team is a subscription, sold by Apple through the App Store and paid by the organization’s owner under their Apple Account. Prices, billing, renewal, the free trial and refunds are Apple’s to handle, under the terms you accepted with your Apple Account. A subscription renews until you cancel it, which you do in Settings, Subscriptions, not by deleting the app. The personal organization stays free.
Ordinary use
Use the service within the range of ordinary use: a company managing its own jobs with the app. The service enforces limits that are well above that, such as 300 active jobs per organization and a cap on how fast jobs can be created. Creating jobs or organizations in bulk, scripting the service, using it to send unsolicited messages, or trying to reach other organizations’ data is not ordinary use, and we may restrict or close accounts that do it. You also agree not to reverse engineer the app or interfere with the service.
Availability and liability
The service is provided as it is. We work to keep it available and to keep your data safe, but we do not promise that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or available at any particular time, and we may suspend or end it. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from its use, including a baton that was not passed or a notification that did not arrive. Nothing here limits rights you have that cannot be limited.
Some functions need an internet connection; data charges are yours.
Ending
You can delete your account in the app at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and may end the service with reasonable notice, after which your rights under these terms end.
Changes
If these terms change, the new text goes up here and the date at the top changes with it. Using the service after a change means you accept it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan.
